Our client, a globally recognized leader in the Mining sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in **Los Angeles, California, US**. This role is instrumental in ensuring the safety, stability, and efficiency of our large-scale mining operations. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive geotechnical investigations, analyzing soil and rock mechanics, and developing designs for mine slopes, foundations, and underground excavations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of geotechnical principles as applied to mining environments, including open-pit and underground operations. Key responsibilities include performing stability analyses, designing ground support systems, monitoring ground conditions, and developing mitigation strategies for potential geotechnical hazards. You will work closely with mine planning engineers, geologists, and other specialists to integrate geotechnical considerations into all phases of mine development and operation. Experience with geotechnical modeling software (e.g., FLAC, Slide, RocData) is essential. We are looking for a candidate with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences, including site personnel and regulatory bodies. - Develop and implement ground monitoring programs.
- Analyze soil and rock mass properties and behavior.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, designs, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with mine planners and other disciplines to integrate geotechnical requirements.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with significant experience in the mining industry.
- Proven expertise in slope stability analysis, rock mechanics, and foundation design.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software packages (e.g., FLAC, PLAXIS, Slide, Rocscience suite).
- Strong understanding of geological conditions and their impact on mining operations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility is required.
