Our client, a leading innovator in advanced robotics and automation, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with extensive experience in robotics. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to groundbreaking projects from the comfort of your home office. You will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of complex robotic systems, including end-effectors, manipulators, and mobile platforms. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of mechanical principles, material science, CAD/CAE tools, and a passion for creating robust and efficient robotic solutions. Your role will involve translating conceptual designs into detailed engineering drawings, overseeing prototyping and testing, and collaborating closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams to bring cutting-edge robotic products to life. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a collaborative, remote work environment. - Design and develop mechanical components and systems for advanced robotic applications using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA).
- Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Perform mechanical analysis, including stress, strain, thermal, and vibration analysis, using CAE tools.
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for robotic components.
- Oversee the prototyping, fabrication, and assembly of mechanical systems.
- Conduct design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design integrity and manufacturability.
- Troubleshoot mechanical design issues and implement effective solutions.
- Develop and maintain mechanical design documentation, including specifications and test procedures.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and design methodologies in mechanical engineering and robotics.
- Mentor junior mechanical engineers and provide technical guidance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical design engineering, with a significant focus on robotics or complex electromechanical systems.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software and experience with PDM/PLM systems.
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, kinematics, dynamics, and material science.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools.
- Knowledge of various manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, 3D printing).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
- Experience with control systems and integration of sensors is a plus.
