Lead Platform Architect (Remote)

Our client is a rapidly growing technology firm in the Oil & Gas sector seeking a highly skilled and visionary Lead Platform Architect to join their fully remote team. As the Lead Platform Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the implementation of robust, secure, and high-performance cloud-based platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, product managers, and senior leadership to define architectural roadmaps, establish technical standards, and ensure the successful delivery of complex software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing and architecting large-scale distributed systems, a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies, and a passion for building resilient and efficient systems. Responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Defining and enforcing architectural principles, standards, and best practices across engineering teams.
• Leading the technical design and development of new platform features and services.
• Collaborating with engineering teams to ensure the performance, scalability, and maintainability of applications.
• Evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies and tools to meet business requirements.
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to development teams.
• Identifying and mitigating technical risks and dependencies.
• Developing and maintaining architectural documentation, diagrams, and strategy.
• Driving innovation through research and adoption of emerging technologies.
• Ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
• Facilitating technical discussions and decision-making processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software development and architecture, with at least 5 years in a lead architect role.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and event-driven systems.
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and monitoring tools.
• Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to drive technical strategy and influence engineering teams.
