Principal AI Research Scientist (Remote)
Job Description
Our client is a leading innovator in artificial intelligence and is looking for a world-class Principal AI Research Scientist to join their cutting-edge, fully remote research division. This role is pivotal in pushing the boundaries of AI, developing novel algorithms, and architecting next-generation intelligent systems. You will be at the forefront of research in areas such as deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, reinforcement learning, or generative AI. The successful candidate will lead research initiatives, mentor a team of talented scientists and engineers, publish findings in top-tier conferences and journals, and translate research breakthroughs into practical applications. This position demands a deep theoretical understanding, exceptional programming skills, and a passion for tackling complex, unsolved problems in AI. You will work in a collaborative, intellectually stimulating environment, interacting with leading experts in the field. Responsibilities include:
- Define and lead ambitious research projects in areas of AI and machine learning.
- Develop novel AI algorithms and models, pushing the state-of-the-art.
- Design and implement experiments to validate research hypotheses.
- Analyze and interpret complex data sets to extract insights and drive model improvements.
- Publish research findings in leading AI conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ACL, etc.) and journals.
- Collaborate with product teams to integrate research outcomes into impactful AI solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior researchers and engineers.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in AI research and identify new research opportunities.
- Contribute to patent applications for novel inventions.
- Present research findings to internal stakeholders and external audiences.
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field.
- 10+ years of post-graduate research experience in AI/ML, with a strong publication record.
- Expertise in one or more subfields of AI (e.g., deep learning, NLP, computer vision, reinforcement learning, generative models).
- Proficiency in Python and AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX.
- Experience with large-scale data processing and distributed computing (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Strong mathematical and statistical foundation.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, comfortable presenting complex technical concepts.
- Experience translating research into production-level systems is a significant plus.
