Our client is seeking a highly innovative and driven Remote Precision Agriculture Data Scientist to join their pioneering team. This role is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the US, while contributing to the advancement of sustainable farming practices. You will be instrumental in leveraging vast datasets from sensors, drones, satellite imagery, and farm management software to develop predictive models and actionable insights that optimize crop yields, resource management, and farm efficiency. Your expertise will drive the development of cutting-edge solutions in precision agriculture, impacting how food is grown globally. This position requires a deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning, agricultural science, and data visualization, along with the ability to translate complex findings into practical applications for farmers.

- Develop, implement, and validate advanced statistical and machine learning models for crop yield prediction, disease detection, and nutrient management.
- Analyze large and complex datasets from diverse agricultural sources, including IoT sensors, drone imagery, satellite data, and farm management systems.
- Design and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and evaluate the effectiveness of different agricultural strategies.
- Develop algorithms to process and interpret geospatial data and remote sensing imagery for agricultural applications.
- Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights and recommendations to farmers, agronomists, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with software engineers to integrate data science models into production systems and user-facing applications.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in precision agriculture, data science, and AI relevant to the agricultural sector.
- Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for agricultural operations and develop models to track and improve them.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the company's data science initiatives in agriculture.
- Work independently and as part of a distributed team, managing projects and timelines effectively.
- Communicate findings and methodologies clearly through written reports and presentations.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data lifecycle.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Agronomy, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong focus on agricultural applications or related environmental sciences.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and relevant data science libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy).
- Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning techniques (regression, classification, clustering, deep learning), and experimental design.
- Experience with geospatial data analysis and remote sensing tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine, GDAL).
- Familiarity with agricultural concepts, crop physiology, soil science, and farming practices.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Excellent data visualization skills using tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to research and development.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
