Remote Forensic Accountant

Job Description

Our client, a reputable accounting and advisory firm, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Remote Forensic Accountant to join their dedicated investigative services team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the US. The ideal candidate will possess a keen analytical mind, exceptional investigative skills, and a strong understanding of financial regulations and auditing principles. You will play a crucial role in uncovering financial irregularities, fraud, and misconduct for a diverse range of clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct forensic accounting investigations to detect and prevent fraud, financial misconduct, and asset misappropriation.
  • Analyze complex financial data, including accounting records, transaction histories, and electronic evidence, to identify anomalies and irregularities.
  • Prepare detailed forensic accounting reports, findings, and recommendations for clients and legal counsel.
  • Assist in litigation support, including providing expert witness testimony in legal proceedings.
  • Perform data analysis using specialized forensic accounting software and tools.
  • Collaborate with legal teams, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders throughout investigations.
  • Conduct interviews with relevant parties to gather information and evidence.
  • Develop and implement internal control recommendations to mitigate future risks of fraud and non-compliance.
  • Review financial statements, tax returns, and other financial documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices in forensic accounting and fraud detection.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and integrity throughout all investigations.
  • Manage multiple case files simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and thorough documentation.
  • Assist in the development of training materials and presentations on fraud awareness and prevention.
  • Identify potential areas for further investigation based on preliminary findings.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) or Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in forensic accounting, fraud investigation, or related auditing roles.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, auditing standards, and relevant legal frameworks.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and forensic accounting software (e.g., IDEA, ACL, Excel).
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly and concisely.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
  • Experience with litigation support and expert witness testimony is a significant advantage.
  • Ability to maintain objectivity and impartiality throughout investigations.
