Network Operations Engineer - Remote
Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Network Operations Engineer to join their fully remote team. This position is critical for maintaining the stability, performance, and security of the company's global network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network protocols, hardware, and troubleshooting methodologies, with a proven ability to manage and optimize complex network environments from a remote location.
Responsibilities include monitoring network performance and availability 24/7, identifying and resolving network issues, incidents, and outages promptly. You will be responsible for configuring, installing, and managing network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers from various vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto). This role involves implementing network security measures, performing regular network audits, and ensuring compliance with security policies. You will also participate in network capacity planning, upgrade projects, and the deployment of new network technologies. Developing and maintaining comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams and standard operating procedures, is a key aspect of this role. Collaboration with other IT teams to support business requirements and troubleshoot complex infrastructure problems will be essential.
Qualifications require a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience in network operations, network engineering, or a similar role is mandatory. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, VPNs, and firewall technologies is essential. Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios) and network automation tools is highly desirable. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are a strong plus. Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently and effectively in a fully remote setting are crucial for this position, supporting our operations in Charlotte, North Carolina, US and beyond.
