Remote Senior Actuarial Analyst - Life & Health Insurance

Our client, a highly reputable and financially stable insurance provider, is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Actuarial Analyst to join their actuarial team on a fully remote basis. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your analytical expertise and contribute to critical pricing, reserving, and financial modeling functions from any location in the US. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining actuarial models for life and health insurance products, performing complex analysis to support product development, pricing strategies, and financial forecasting. Responsibilities include conducting profitability studies, performing experience analyses, assisting with statutory and GAAP reserving, and contributing to regulatory filings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of actuarial principles, advanced proficiency in actuarial software and data analysis tools (e.g., Prophet, GGY AXIS, SQL, Python), and a commitment to achieving actuarial designations (ASA/FSA). You must possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders. This role requires a self-starter who thrives in an independent work environment and is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of accuracy and integrity. Responsibilities include:
  • Developing, validating, and maintaining actuarial models for life and health insurance products
  • Performing pricing analysis, profitability studies, and experience analyses
  • Assisting with statutory and GAAP reserving calculations and projections
  • Contributing to the preparation of regulatory filings and internal reports
  • Analyzing insurance risks and developing mitigation strategies
  • Collaborating with underwriting, product development, and finance teams
  • Supporting the development of new insurance products and features
  • Monitoring industry trends and regulatory changes impacting actuarial practice
  • Ensuring compliance with actuarial standards of practice and company policies
  • Mentoring junior actuarial staff and contributing to team development
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of actuarial experience in the life and health insurance industry
  • Progress towards ASA or FSA designation strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in actuarial modeling software (e.g., Prophet, GGY AXIS) and databases
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and statistical analysis tools (e.g., R, Python)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage projects, and meet deadlines in a remote setting
  • Knowledge of insurance regulations and financial reporting requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
