Remote Lead Network Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure

Our client is a rapidly expanding technology firm recognized for its innovative cloud solutions and robust digital infrastructure. We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Remote Lead Network Engineer to spearhead our network architecture and operations. This is a critical, fully remote role where you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available, scalable, and secure network infrastructure across multiple cloud environments. You will lead a team of talented network engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and strategic direction. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of modern networking principles, cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP), BGP, OSPF, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancing. Your responsibilities will extend to network security, performance optimization, and troubleshooting complex issues. You will play a key role in defining our network strategy, selecting appropriate technologies, and ensuring our infrastructure supports the company's rapid growth and evolving business needs. Strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success in this role. You should be comfortable working independently and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a distributed environment. Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise-level network infrastructure across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Develop and execute network strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology roadmaps.
- Oversee the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.
- Implement and manage robust network security measures to protect company assets and data.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure high availability and low latency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Mentor and guide a team of network engineers, fostering their technical growth and development.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, policies, and procedures.
- Evaluate and recommend new network technologies and solutions to enhance infrastructure capabilities.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, security teams, and application developers to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for network hardware and services.
- On-call rotation for network incident response.
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior architect role.
- Extensive experience with cloud networking concepts and services (AWS VPC, Azure VNet, GCP Networking).
- Deep understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching technologies, and network security principles.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools and network automation techniques.
- Experience with network security devices such as firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet) and IDS/IPS systems.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other core network services.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty) are highly desirable.
