Remote Senior Petroleum Engineer, Reservoir Simulation

Our client, a globally recognized leader in the oil and gas exploration and production sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Petroleum Engineer specializing in Reservoir Simulation. This fully remote position offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge projects from the comfort of your home office, leveraging advanced modeling techniques to optimize hydrocarbon recovery. You will be responsible for developing, calibrating, and utilizing sophisticated reservoir simulation models to predict reservoir performance, evaluate development strategies, and support reserve assessments.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, build, and maintain complex 3D reservoir simulation models using industry-standard software (e.g., ECLIPSE, INTERSECT, CMG).
  • Perform dynamic data integration and history matching to accurately calibrate simulation models against historical production and pressure data.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses and uncertainty assessments to understand the impact of various reservoir parameters and development scenarios.
  • Evaluate and recommend optimal well placement, development strategies, and production optimization techniques based on simulation results.
  • Generate forecasts for oil, gas, and water production under different operational scenarios.
  • Collaborate closely with geoscientists, production engineers, and management to integrate geological models and production data into simulation workflows.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations summarizing simulation results, findings, and recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share expertise in reservoir simulation techniques.
  • Stay current with advancements in reservoir simulation technology, numerical methods, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new simulation workflows and methodologies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline. A Master's degree is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in reservoir engineering, with a strong emphasis on reservoir simulation.
  • Proven expertise in using major reservoir simulation software packages.
  • Demonstrated success in building, calibrating, and utilizing reservoir simulation models for field development and management.
  • Strong understanding of reservoir characterization, petrophysics, geology, and production engineering principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and numerical modeling skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, scripting, and visualization tools is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
  • Experience with unconventional reservoirs is a significant advantage.
