Residential Youth Worker
Job Description
Milton Hershey School, a cost-free private residential school serving children from pre-K through 12th grade, is seeking a dedicated Residential Youth Worker to join its Community & Social Services department. In this role, you will play a central part in the holistic development of students who live on campus, helping to create a safe, structured, and nurturing home environment that supports their academic, social, and emotional growth.
The Residential Youth Worker provides day-to-day supervision, guidance, and positive role modeling for students in a group home setting. You will help students develop strong life skills by supporting routines such as homework, household responsibilities, personal organization, and participation in extracurricular and community activities. Using trauma-informed and restorative approaches, you will assist with conflict resolution, behavior management, and emotional regulation, ensuring that students feel heard, respected, and supported.
Collaboration is essential in this position. You will work closely with teachers, counselors, and Community & Social Services professionals to implement individualized support plans, monitor student progress, and share observations that contribute to each students overall success. Regular documentation and communication about behavior, achievement, and well-being are key aspects of the role.
The Residential Youth Worker also helps to plan and lead enriching activities that promote social skills, cultural awareness, and personal growth. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe and orderly living environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines, and following all school policies and procedures. Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, is necessary to meet the needs of a residential school community.
At Milton Hershey School, you will be part of a mission-driven culture that values diversity, inclusion, and personal growth for both students and staff. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful, lasting impact on the lives of young people while contributing to a supportive, collaborative educational community.
