Job Description
LewisGale Medical Center, a full-service tertiary hospital known for advanced vascular and heart care, surgical weight loss, and rehabilitation, is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Medical Surgical Pulmonary Renal Unit. In this role, you will provide evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care to adults with complex pulmonary and renal conditions, as well as a variety of medical-surgical diagnoses. You will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications and treatments, and closely monitor patient responses, collaborating with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes.
As an RN in the Medical Surgical Pulmonary Renal Unit, you will manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, non-invasive ventilation, and other respiratory interventions, while also caring for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, and comorbid medical-surgical needs. You will interpret clinical data, including vital signs, lab results, and telemetry when applicable, intervening promptly to address changes in patient status. You will educate patients and families about disease processes, medications, dialysis-related issues when applicable, discharge plans, and strategies for managing chronic conditions at home.
