Lead Sound Designer - Gaming

Our client, a celebrated game development studio in San Francisco, California, US , is looking for an experienced and visionary Lead Sound Designer to spearhead the audio experience for their upcoming titles. This is a leadership role where you will be responsible for shaping the overall sonic landscape of games, from initial concept to final release. The ideal candidate is a creative powerhouse with a deep passion for interactive audio and a proven ability to lead and inspire a team of sound designers. You will be tasked with defining the audio direction, creating immersive soundscapes, and implementing sound effects, music, and voiceovers that enhance gameplay and player immersion. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with game designers, programmers, and artists to ensure audio aligns with the game's vision and technical requirements. You will oversee the recording, editing, and mixing of all audio assets, ensuring high-quality production values. This involves managing audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD) and working with real-time audio engines. The Lead Sound Designer will mentor junior team members, provide constructive feedback, and manage project timelines and resources for the audio department. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining audio style guides and best practices. A strong understanding of audio post-production techniques, including sound synthesis, Foley, ADR, and mastering, is essential. Experience with various digital audio workstations (DAWs) and audio plugins is required.
