Lead Agronomist - Remote Data Analysis

Our client is a leader in sustainable agricultural technology and is seeking an experienced Lead Agronomist to join their innovative team. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while supporting agricultural operations nationwide, including advisory for clients in the **Chicago, Illinois, US** region. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of crop science, soil health, and modern farming practices, coupled with expertise in data analysis and digital agricultural tools. You will be responsible for providing remote agronomic guidance, analyzing farm data to optimize crop yields and resource efficiency, and developing best-practice recommendations for our diverse clientele.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert agronomic advice and recommendations to farmers and agricultural producers remotely.
  • Analyze vast datasets including soil tests, weather patterns, satellite imagery, and crop performance data.
  • Develop and refine farm management plans focused on optimizing yield, quality, and sustainability.
  • Guide clients on best practices for crop nutrition, pest and disease management, irrigation, and soil conservation.
  • Utilize precision agriculture technologies and data analytics platforms to inform recommendations.
  • Create detailed reports and presentations for clients, translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in agronomy, crop science, and agricultural technology.
  • Collaborate with a remote team of scientists, agronomists, and client success managers.
  • Assist in the development of new tools and services to enhance remote agronomic support.
  • Conduct virtual training sessions and webinars for clients and internal teams.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of regional agricultural practices and challenges.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in agronomy, crop management, or agricultural consulting.
  • Proven experience in data analysis related to agriculture, including familiarity with statistical software and agricultural data platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, plant pathology, and entomology.
  • Experience with precision agriculture tools and concepts (e.g., GPS, GIS, remote sensing).
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple client projects in a remote setting.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications and agricultural data management systems.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
