We are actively seeking a highly skilled Senior 3D Technical Artist to join our fully remote development team. This critical role bridges the gap between art and technology, focusing on optimizing 3D assets and implementing them within the game engine to ensure both visual fidelity and peak performance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in 3D modeling, texturing, and animation, coupled with deep expertise in game engines and scripting.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and optimize high-quality 3D game assets (models, textures, materials) for various platforms.
  • Implement 3D assets into the game engine (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity), ensuring correct setup, shaders, and LODs.
  • Create and maintain efficient rigging and skinning for characters and props.
  • Develop and implement custom tools, scripts, and shaders to enhance the art pipeline and improve artist efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with environment artists, character artists, and gameplay programmers to achieve desired visual outcomes and performance targets.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to 3D assets and engine integration.
  • Profile and optimize game performance, focusing on memory usage, draw calls, and frame rates.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in game development technology, tools, and art techniques.
  • Mentor junior technical artists and provide technical guidance to the art team.
  • Contribute to defining and documenting art pipeline standards and best practices.
  • Ensure all assets meet technical specifications and quality benchmarks.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics, Game Design, Art, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Technical Artist in the video game industry.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, Substance Painter, Photoshop).
  • Expertise with major game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
  • Strong understanding of shaders, PBR workflows, and material creation.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, MEL, C#) for pipeline and tool development.
  • Experience with rigging, skinning, and animation systems.
  • Excellent understanding of game performance optimization techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • A portfolio showcasing exceptional technical art skills and successful game asset implementation is mandatory.
