They are looking for a talented Senior Grid Integration Engineer to join their innovative, fully remote team. This position is crucial for ensuring the seamless and reliable integration of large-scale renewable energy projects (solar, wind, battery storage) into existing power grids. You will be responsible for technical analysis, developing interconnection strategies, ensuring compliance with grid codes and standards, and collaborating with utilities, grid operators, and internal engineering teams. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of power systems engineering, grid interconnection requirements, and renewable energy technologies. Responsibilities:
- Conduct power flow, short circuit, and transient stability analyses for grid-connected renewable energy projects.
- Develop and optimize grid interconnection strategies and applications for solar, wind, and energy storage systems.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable grid codes, utility interconnection requirements, and NERC standards.
- Collaborate with utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), and Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) on interconnection studies and agreements.
- Perform technical reviews of project designs and specifications related to grid connection.
- Develop and refine methodologies and tools for grid impact assessments and integration studies.
- Work closely with project development, engineering, and construction teams to address grid-related challenges.
- Prepare technical reports, studies, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external parties.
- Stay abreast of evolving grid technologies, regulatory changes, and industry best practices in renewable energy integration.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers on grid interconnection best practices and technical analysis.
- Contribute to the company's technical strategy and roadmap for renewable energy deployment.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on renewable energy grid integration.
- In-depth knowledge of power flow, stability, and short-circuit analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory DIgSILENT, PSCAD).
- Strong understanding of utility interconnection processes, grid codes, and regulations (e.g., FERC, NERC).
- Experience with energy storage systems and their integration into the grid.
- Familiarity with renewable energy technologies (solar PV, wind turbines).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Proven ability to work independently and effectively in a remote team environment.
- Experience with programming languages like Python for automation and data analysis is a plus.
- Project management experience is beneficial.
