Remote Senior Process Engineer - Advanced Materials Manufacturing

Our client is actively seeking a highly experienced Remote Senior Process Engineer specializing in Advanced Materials Manufacturing. This is a critical, fully remote position where you will play a leading role in the design, development, and optimization of cutting-edge manufacturing processes for novel materials. Your expertise will be crucial in translating laboratory-scale innovations into robust, scalable, and cost-effective production solutions. You will work closely with our R&D, engineering, and production teams to ensure seamless integration of new materials into our manufacturing workflows. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in materials science, chemical engineering, or a closely related field, coupled with a proven track record in process development and scale-up. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and optimization of manufacturing processes for advanced materials, including polymers, composites, and specialty chemicals.
  • Design, implement, and validate pilot-scale and full-scale production processes.
  • Perform detailed process modeling, simulation, and analysis to identify potential improvements and risks.
  • Develop and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize process parameters.
  • Collaborate with R&D scientists to transition new materials from laboratory to production.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex manufacturing process issues, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and process safety information.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and equipment to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and manufacturing personnel.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, quality control, and supply chain.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings and recommendations to management.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering, with a strong focus on advanced materials manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in process development, scale-up, and optimization of complex chemical or material processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of materials characterization techniques and their implications for manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, CHEMCAD) and statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab).
  • Strong understanding of process safety management (PSM) principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fully remote work environment, demonstrating strong self-discipline and initiative.
  • Experience with project management methodologies.
