Physical Therapist Assistant

Indianapolis, IN full-time ✦ New

Job Description

IEP Therapy is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to support the delivery of high-quality physical therapy services to students in school-based settings. As a key member of our Healthcare & Medical Services team, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help students access their educational environment, improve functional mobility, and participate more fully in school activities. You will implement treatment plans, provide direct interventions, and assist in developing strategies that promote student independence and safety throughout the school day.

In this role, you will carry out individualized therapy sessions based on goals established by the supervising Physical Therapist, using evidence-based techniques that are appropriate for each students age, abilities, and educational needs. You will support students in areas such as gross motor skills, balance, coordination, posture, strength, mobility, transfers, and the use of adaptive equipment. You will document treatment sessions, progress toward goals, and student responses in accordance with school district, state, and federal guidelines, contributing to progress reports and Individualized Education Program (IEP) documentation as needed.

Collaboration is central to this position. You will partner closely with physical therapists, special education teachers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, school nurses, and other school personnel to ensure therapy supports are integrated into the school day. You will also participate in team meetings when appropriate, provide feedback on student performance, and assist with adapting school environments and tasks to improve student access and participation. Communicating in a professional and compassionate manner with teachers, staff, and, when appropriate, families is expected to help reinforce carryover of therapeutic strategies across school activities.

IEP Therapy fosters a supportive and collaborative culture, where each therapist is encouraged to grow professionally and make a meaningful impact. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will have access to resources that support continuing education and skill development, allowing you to expand your school-based practice and remain current with best practices in pediatric physical therapy. You will be encouraged to actively engage in ongoing learning, reflect on your clinical practice, and contribute ideas to improve services and outcomes for students.

Daily responsibilities include preparing therapy materials and equipment, maintaining a safe and organized treatment environment, following all safety and infection-control protocols, and adhering to ethical and professional standards. You will be expected to comply with state practice laws governing Physical Therapist Assistants, school district policies, and IEP Therapys documentation and billing procedures. Strong organizational skills and time management are essential, as you will manage a caseload, schedule sessions around instructional time, and complete required documentation within established timelines.

This position is well-suited for professionals who are passionate about pediatric and school-based practice, value collaboration, and are motivated by the opportunity to help students reach their educational and functional goals. By joining IEP Therapy, you will contribute directly to creating inclusive learning environments where every student is supported in achieving meaningful progress, while also advancing your own professional growth in a mission-driven organization.
