Senior Electrical Engineer – Consulting & Business Development

Location: New York, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time | Hybrid

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a growing consulting engineering practice in New York. This role combines technical leadership, client-facing consulting, and business development, making it ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys building relationships, leading projects, and helping grow a practice within a collaborative, multidisciplinary firm.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality electrical engineering solutions while supporting client development, proposal efforts, and long-term strategic growth in the New York market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for commercial, institutional, and mission-critical projects

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, architects, and project stakeholders

  • Manage multiple projects, including scope, budget, and schedule

  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversight to engineering teams

  • Support business development efforts, including client relationship building, proposal development, and pursuit strategy

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated design solutions

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NYC codes, IEEE, IECC, etc.)

  • Review and seal project documents as Engineer of Record

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)

  • 10+ years of experience in consulting electrical engineering

  • Strong background in power distribution and building electrical systems

  • Proven client-facing experience with demonstrated business development involvement

  • Experience managing projects and leading technical teams

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with New York City AHJs, permitting, and approval processes

  • Experience working on complex urban or high-rise projects

  • Active participation in industry organizations and professional networks
