Job Summary:
The Operations Manager is a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the facility General Manager. The position will have overall responsibility for leading the manufacturing, safety, quality of all products and production departments for the injection molding plant and leading the implementation of the Lean Manufacturing program. He/she will work in conjunction with quality, planning, and engineering to develop efficient processes and improvements. Responsible for meeting production schedules and coordination of related operations. Works with senior management and to support the overall vision and initiates improvements to ensure the processes meet present and future requirements for quality, growth, flexibility, and cost improvement.
Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Always provide a safe work environment and foster a safety driven culture.
- Provide leadership, coaching, motivation for the production supervisors and operations team.
- Manage the LEAN manufacturing continuous improvement programs
- Assess the manufacturing footprint to maximize asset utilization across the plant.
- Drive process improvements and optimize manufacturing strategy initiatives across the organization to reduce lead times and create a competitive advantage.
- Collaborate with human resources to carefully manage labor availability to meet production schedule requirements without incurring excess labor.
- Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager to ensure that scheduling and procurement are aligned with manufacturing in all decision making and execution.
- Track and report on cost savings, cost avoidance, and operational efficiency gains on a routine basis.
- Drive net productivity gain while supporting revenue growth to increase gross margins over the current strategic planning horizon.
- Instill customer confidence by consistently delivering the highest quality of industry products and on time delivery
- Contribute to defining the facility's strategic plan as a member of the leadership team.
- Establish dashboards with clear and concise set of Operational Efficiency Metrics that department and shift supervisors will use to track performance and productivity on a per shift basis.
- Maintain and improve company profitability through monthly manufacturing reviews.
- Interface with the commercial organization to ensure that sales and buisness development pipeline aligns with manufacturing capabilities and capacity planning.
- Anticipate manufacturing adjustments in line with commercial forecasting and sales.
- Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the manufacturing team, including attracting, recruiting, retaining, and mentoring team members.
- Build a culture of excellence in quality standards and systems, metrics, and reporting throughout the manufacturing organization.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in management, engineering, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment, preferably with injection molding.
- Understanding and experience in deploying and using Lean manufacturing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Availability to be on-call and responsive to production operations.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships at all organizational levels.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, specifications, safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and regulatory documentation.
- Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of employees, maintaining a positive and professional tone.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, striving for clarity and solutions.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and executing.
- Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
- Experience in regulated industries (ISO9001, FDA, and cGMP requirements).
- High proficiency in working with computers and various applications, such as MRP and MS Office.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of plastic injection molding tooling
- Experience working in pharmaceutical/medical device manufacturing or (ISO) industry
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
Physical, Mental and Travel Requirements:
- Manufacturing environment.
- Specific vision abilities may be needed by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must follow and comply with Plant’s Dress and Hygiene Code (SOI).
- Must be able to tolerate heat and industrial odors/smells on a frequent basis.
