A magnet press operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a specialized press machine used to mold and compact magnetic powder into desired shapes, ensuring consistent quality and production volume by monitoring the pressing process, making adjustments as needed, and performing routine maintenance checks to maintain machine functionality and safety standards. - Loading magnetic powder into the press hopper, aligning dies according to specifications, and setting pressure and cycle time parameters based on the required magnet properties.
- Continuously observing the press operation to identify any potential issues like uneven powder distribution, pressure fluctuations, or machine malfunctions.
- Regularly inspecting pressed magnets for size, shape, and magnetic strength to ensure they meet quality standards, performing necessary adjustments as needed.
- Identifying and resolving common machine issues such as jams, misaligned dies, or pressure inconsistencies.
- Performing routine cleaning and lubrication of the press, inspecting wear and tear on components, and reporting any necessary repairs.
- Loading and unloading raw materials (magnetic powder) and finished magnets, adhering to proper handling procedures.
- Maintaining production records, including batch numbers, pressures, and quality inspection results.
- Has a mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic machine operation principles.
- Shows attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality standards.
- Can read and interpret work instructions and specifications.
- Can perform basic math skills for calculations related to production quantities and measurements.
- Has good hand-eye coordination and ability to operate machinery with precision.
- Can work independently and follow safety protocols.
- Must be able to pass a drug screening, medical physical and, if applicable, visual testing.
- Able to move up to 50lbs.
- Can wear PPE.
- Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
- Can make repetitive movements including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting and walking up and down stairs.
