Job Description

GE Vernova is seeking a Process Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team in the Energy & Utilities sector. You will design, model, and optimize power generation and grid-related processes, improving efficiency, reliability, and safety. Responsibilities include developing process simulations, PFDs/P&IDs, equipment specifications, and supporting commissioning and troubleshooting. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to decarbonize and modernize energy systems, applying lean and continuous improvement methods in a mission-driven, highly collaborative environment.
Develop and optimize process designs for power generation and grid-related systems, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
Build and maintain process simulations to evaluate performance, efficiency, and reliability under varying operating conditions.
Conduct energy and mass balance calculations to identify improvement opportunities in existing and new plants.
Support commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting of equipment and processes in collaboration with operations and field teams.
Apply process safety principles, participate in HAZOP/LOPA reviews, and ensure compliance with relevant standards (ASME, API, etc.).
Analyze operational data to drive continuous improvement, efficiency gains, and emissions reductions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across mechanical, electrical, controls, and digital engineering disciplines.
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external customers.
Contribute to innovation initiatives focused on decarbonization, grid modernization, and advanced energy technologies.
Process simulation (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or similar)
Process design, PFDs, and P&IDs
Energy and mass balance calculations
Thermodynamics and heat transfer in power systems
Equipment sizing and specification (pumps, heat exchangers, turbines)
Process safety and HAZOP/LOPA methodologies
Data analysis and performance monitoring (e.g., Python/Excel/Minitab)
Familiarity with grid and power generation technologies
Lean/continuous improvement methods (Six Sigma, DMAIC)
Technical documentation and engineering standards compliance
