Job Description
Performance Food Group is seeking a CDL A Shuttle Driver to safely shuttle trailers between yards and distribution points, supporting overnight food & beverage operations. This role focuses on timely, accurate moves of loaded and empty trailers, thorough pre/post-trip inspections, and strict DOT, FMCSA, and company safety compliance. The driver maintains detailed logs, communicates with dispatch, and represents PFG with professionalism while working independently in a fast-paced, performance-driven transportation and logistics environment.
Safely shuttle loaded and empty trailers between distribution centers, yards, and drop lots
Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report defects promptly
Maintain accurate driver logs, DVIRs, and required DOT documentation
Follow FMCSA, DOT, and company safety policies at all times
Communicate effectively with dispatch and yard personnel about trailer status and moves
Operate tractors, dollies, and reefers, including coupling/uncoupling and backing into tight spaces
Secure trailers, chock wheels, and ensure proper temperature control for food loads
Support efficient yard organization and equipment staging to meet route schedules
Report incidents, delays, or equipment issues immediately to supervision
Demonstrate professionalism, customer focus, and teamwork in all interactions
CDL Class A tractor-trailer operation
Backing and maneuvering in tight yards
Pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations
Electronic logging devices (ELD) usage
Reefer/trailer temperature control basics
Defensive driving and hazard recognition
Yard switching and shuttle operations
Basic equipment troubleshooting and reporting
Time management and route/yard communication

Valid CDL Class A license with clean MVR
DOT medical certification
Experience with tandem/53’ trailers
Knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations
Ability to pass background check and drug screen
