Job Description
PacifiCorp seeks an Electrical Engineer to support reliable, safe, and efficient electric service across our western U.S. territory. In this role, you will design, analyze, and upgrade transmission, distribution, and substation systems, supporting grid modernization and renewable integration projects. You’ll prepare engineering drawings and specifications, perform system studies, ensure compliance with utility, safety, and regulatory standards, and provide technical support to field crews and operations. Design and analyze transmission, distribution, and substation systems for reliability and safety.
Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations for new construction and upgrades.
Support grid modernization and renewable energy integration projects.
Perform power system studies (load flow, fault, protection coordination).
Ensure compliance with utility standards, codes, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NESC, NEC, IEEE).
Provide technical support to field crews, operations, and maintenance teams.
Participate in system planning, asset management, and reliability improvement initiatives.
Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a safety-focused, regulated utility environment.
Support continuous improvement in engineering practices, safety, and environmental stewardship.
Power system analysis (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination)
Substation and distribution system design
Protection and control fundamentals
AutoCAD or similar CAD tools for electrical design
Power systems software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, CYME, or similar)
Knowledge of NESC, NEC, IEEE, and utility standards
SCADA and grid automation basics
Technical report writing and documentation
Project engineering and coordination
Utility safety practices and arc-flash awareness
