Job Description
PacifiCorp seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team in the Energy & Utilities sector. In this role, you will plan, design, and manage power distribution projects across our Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power territories. Responsibilities include performing system studies, preparing specifications and drawings, coordinating with field teams and contractors, ensuring regulatory and safety compliance, and supporting project delivery from concept through commissioning. You will collaborate across disciplines, apply innovative solutions, and uphold PacifiCorp’s strong focus on safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction in a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Plan and design electric power distribution projects for utility customers
Perform power system studies, load analysis, and equipment sizing
Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents
Ensure compliance with safety codes, utility standards, and regulations
Coordinate with field crews, contractors, and internal stakeholders
Support project lifecycle from concept through commissioning
Review designs for reliability, cost-effectiveness, and constructability
Provide technical support for system operations and maintenance
Contribute to process improvements and innovative design solutions
Document engineering calculations, assumptions, and design decisions
Power distribution design
Power system analysis (load flow, short circuit)
Electrical CAD/Design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation)
Protection and coordination basics
National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and NEC knowledge
Utility standards and grid interconnection requirements
Project management and scheduling
Technical report writing and documentation
SCADA and substation fundamentals
Data analysis using Excel, Python, or similar tools

Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT/FE working toward PE
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program
Familiarity with NESC, NEC, and relevant utility standards
