**Maintenance / Automation Technician** **1st and 2nd shift available!** **28-35 per hour, direct hire opportunity!** **Akron, PA** **Job Description** This role focuses on configuring, setting up, operating, and troubleshooting automated production equipment, with a strong emphasis on maintaining high levels of safety, quality, and equipment reliability. The Maintenance / Automation Technician performs regular inspections, replaces wear parts, and supports production goals by minimizing downtime and improving process efficiency on complex automatic cable assembly equipment. **Responsibilities** + Set up and operate complex automatic cable assembly production equipment to support daily production requirements. + Configure, adjust, and optimize automated equipment to ensure consistent product quality and throughput. + Monitor the production process and proactively identify issues to reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs. + Perform regular inspections of machine components and replace wear parts as needed to maintain optimal equipment performance. + Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues on automation equipment, including PLCs and related control devices. + Collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to improve equipment reliability and process efficiency. + Support equipment upgrades and the implementation of new technologies on the production floor. + Contribute to scrap reduction, rate improvement, and cost reduction initiatives through continuous improvement activities. + Assist in developing and updating documentation, including work instructions, preventive maintenance plans, and safety procedures. + Ensure all work complies with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards. + Perform tooling changes and adjustments to support product changeovers and process optimization. + Use electrical and mechanical schematics and blueprints to diagnose and resolve equipment issues. + Maintain regular, predictable attendance and complete assigned tasks within established timelines. + Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to report issues, propose solutions, and support ongoing improvement efforts. **Essential Skills** + High school diploma or GED required. + Experience with automated or industrial equipment, with 2+ years of experience preferred. + Experience with PLCs (such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMIs, and control systems required. + Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills required. + Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints required. + Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, required. + Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and collaborate effectively with engineering, maintenance, and production. + Ability to reason through problems and identify root causes of equipment and process issues. + Excellent analytical, creative thinking, and hands-on troubleshooting skills. + Ability to handle tight deadlines, manage multiple projects, and adapt quickly to changing priorities. + Conscientious and detail-oriented approach, with strong focus on quality and cost control. + Ability to work effectively as a team player while also performing independently when needed. + Ability to communicate effectively in English, including clear verbal communication and strong reading comprehension. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Associate degree in a technical discipline such as Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a similar field with 2+ years of experience preferred. + 2+ years of experience working with automated or industrial equipment preferred. + Experience with robotics preferred. + Knowledge of IPC 620 standards and/or wire processing techniques, including crimping, preferred. + Knowledge of automotive industry standards, including USCAR and IATF, preferred. + Experience performing tooling changes on automated equipment beneficial. + Experience with PLC troubleshooting and repair beneficial. + Ability to read and work from electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints beneficial. **Why Work Here?** You will work in a clean, climate-controlled environment that supports focus, comfort, and safety throughout your shift.
