Job Description

The Processor on 1st shift prepares and processes food products according to established formulas while maintaining strict quality and safety standards. This role involves operating processing equipment, loading raw materials, monitoring production, and performing quality checks to ensure consistent, high-quality finished products.

Responsibilities

  • Physically load raw materials such as spices, sugars, seasonings, and other ingredients into processing machines in accordance with production requirements.
  • Keep accurate paper and electronic logs of all materials fed into machines, ensuring complete and legible records.
  • Operate processing machines to run products for the correct run time, monitoring equipment performance and making adjustments as needed.
  • Perform regular quality checks on products as they exit the machines and are fed into containers, identifying and addressing any defects or inconsistencies.
  • Mix finished products to established formulas, ensuring adherence to specifications and maintaining the highest product quality.
  • Prepare products according to production schedules while monitoring the needs of the production line to avoid delays or shortages.
  • Perform deck set-up for the daily production schedule, including preparing equipment and materials for each formula.
  • Operate equipment and use local control panels to manage additions of all metered and manually added or weighed ingredients to mix and transfer batches.
  • Handle and lift materials and products weighing up to 50 pounds safely and consistently throughout the shift.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines to maintain food safety and product integrity.
  • Support sanitation and safety efforts by working safely around machines, following standard operating procedures, and complying with all safety rules.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status, quality concerns, and equipment issues.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in food manufacturing or food processing, including working with processing machinery and production lines.
  • Ability to operate processing machines and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) in a food processing environment.
  • Basic quality control experience, including performing visual and physical checks on products.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and standard operating procedures in English.
  • Math skills sufficient to verify quantities of ingredients and ensure correct measurements for formulas.
  • Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment around continuously running machinery.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Related experience in food processing is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience as a processing machine operator or machine operator in a manufacturing setting is beneficial.
  • Attention to detail and strong recordkeeping skills for maintaining accurate paper and electronic logs.
  • Ability to follow established formulas and instructions precisely to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Willingness to learn and follow company-specific processes, standards, and safety practices.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with production and sanitation teams.

Work Environment

The role is based in a busy food processing facility with a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Hearing protection must be worn due to the constant hum of processing equipment, and adherence to safety rules and standard operating procedures is essential. The position involves regular physical activity, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds, while working closely with coworkers to meet production schedules and quality standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.81 - $22.81/hr.
