Job Description

Summary:

Applications Engineer position will interact daily with multiple departments and various customers. This position will be deeply involved in the manufacturing process of customer parts and assist production with any questions or part defects. The position will be in charge of the process flow of customer parts through the manufacturing process and making sure that the customers’ requirements are met. This position will also be responsible for designing carbon fiber rack assemblies per customer requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews customer requirements (drawings, specifications, etc...) for manufacturability
  • Creates drawings or redraw using Solid Works
  • Creates process plans with critical manufacturing instructions
  • Coordinates with production to create detailed manufacturing instructions
  • Coordinates qualification effort to ensure that first time builds are created according to customer specifications including all special testing or fit checks
  • Provides analysis and corrective action as required concerning production or quality issues including RMA's (Return Material Authorization) and Customer Complaints or requests
  • Reviews nonconforming product and supports the Material Review Board by dispositioning defective product
  • Responsible for ensuring that all customer requirements are reflected in manufacturing documentation


Qualifications:

  • Experience with methods of analysis for Cause/Corrective Action, Statistical Process Controls, DOE, PC based CAD
  • Four-year degree in mechanical, industrial or an equivalent engineering discipline
  • A mastery of collaborative interpersonal communication skills
  • Good judgment and initiative in resolving complex nonstandard problems and developing recommendations
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a stressful, customer based, environment
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Read technical drawings
  • Read and interpret customer specifications
  • Strong knowledge of basic engineering principles


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in machine shop manufacturing environment
  • Background in semiconductor manufacturing
  • Background working with silicon carbide coatings


Work Environment:

  • Employees are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and machinery while in the machine shop
  • Employees are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals though all necessary PPE is provided
  • Employees are exposed to noise levels that are generally moderate; the office area is quiet, and some areas of the machine shop are loud
  • Employees may be exposed to non-toxic graphite dust, which is classified as a nuisance dust
