Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Cabinet Builder to oversee daily operations in a busy custom woodshop environment. This role blends hands‑on cabinet fabrication with leadership responsibilities, including workflow coordination, material selection, equipment oversight, and mentoring team members. The ideal candidate has deep woodworking expertise, strong CNC proficiency, and the ability to ensure all work aligns with drawings, specifications, and shop standards.
Key Responsibilities- Woodshop Operations — Coordinate daily workflow, set up jobs, select materials, and sequence production tasks to meet deadlines.
- CNC & Machinery Leadership — Operate, program, and guide staff on CNC routers, edge banders, jointers, table saws, wall saws, boring machines, and related equipment.
- Blueprint Interpretation — Read and interpret drawings, CAD‑based specifications, and shop documents; support team understanding for accurate production.
- Layout & Fabrication — Mark dimensions, perform precise layout work, and participate in fabrication, assembly, repair, and finishing of cabinets and wood components.
- Finishing & Hardware Installation — Apply laminates, stains, varnishes, and paint; install hinges, drawer slides, pulls, and other hardware.
- Engineering Collaboration — Consult with Engineering and Project Management before modifying drawings; document approved changes.
- ERP Tracking — Enter job data, track labor, and ensure accurate production reporting.
- Quality & Safety — Monitor workmanship, identify issues, maintain clean work areas, and enforce safety regulations.
- Team Leadership — Train and mentor staff on equipment use, material handling, and craftsmanship standards.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support woodshop operations.
- Extensive knowledge of cabinetmaking, woodworking materials, and shop machinery.
- 5+ years leading or managing fabrication projects in a woodworking or millwork environment.
- Proven experience with CNC routers, edge banders, band saws, and related equipment.
- Strong ability to read and explain blueprints, drawings, and CAD‑based specifications.
- Understanding of production workflows, job sequencing, and occupational safety.
- Strong CNC and ERP system proficiency.
- Effective leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
