Job Description

This role is hybrid in office 3 days a week, office locations are either Freemont, CA or Montreal, Quebec. Must have working rights and not need sponsorship for either location.

My client is an Orthopedic Medical Device company with an advanced robotic surgical platform. As they continue to scale their engineering team, they are seeking a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to join them.

The Lead Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for driving the design and development of the current optical tracking system that is embedded into the robotic system. This is a highly visible role bridging hardware, software and regulatory considerations. The core of the job is going to be working on the camera system. It tracks the object and feeds positioning to the robot, which is extremely precise and timing is complex.

For this role, you will need:

  • Familiarity with Highly Regulated Environments (Medical Device/Imaging ideal, Aerospace considered)
  • Working on complex 3D camera systems for robots (tracking, real-time object positioning)
  • Embedded Linux
  • Low-latency, multi-threaded systems
  • Proficiency in C++
  • Experience designing communication frameworks and APIs (gRPC, REST)
  • Familiar with the link between electronic components and embedded hardware
  • Deep knowledge of ARM & Python

This role offers significant ownership over a core technology platform with broad cross functional exposure. Some travel required (up to 10%).

A competitive full package including base, bonus, equity and full benefits will be offered.
