Job Description
Amazon seeks a Permits Manager to lead end-to-end permitting for complex IT and Engineering & Design projects. You will own permitting strategy, requirements, and timelines for data centers, network infrastructure, and related facilities, partnering closely with engineers, designers, construction, and operations. You’ll interpret codes and regulations, manage relationships with authorities having jurisdiction, track cycle times, and remove roadblocks to keep projects on schedule. In Amazon’s customer-obsessed, data-driven culture, you will leverage metrics to optimize workflows, standardize processes, and scale permitting practices that support rapid global expansion.
Lead end-to-end permitting for IT and engineering projects, ensuring timely approvals for complex, multi-site deployments.
Interpret and apply local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and standards to engineering and design packages.
Partner with engineering, design, construction, and operations teams to define permit strategies and requirements.
Own relationships with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), utilities, and third-party reviewers.
Track, report, and optimize permit cycle times using data-driven metrics and dashboards.
Identify process bottlenecks and implement scalable, repeatable permitting workflows and SOPs.
Review and coordinate technical submittals, drawings, and supporting documents for accuracy and compliance.
Mitigate risk by proactively surfacing permitting issues and driving resolution with internal and external partners.
Contribute to standards, templates, and playbooks that support global IT infrastructure expansion.
