Job Description

Our client is a leading innovator in high-frequency communication systems, seeking a Principal RF Design Engineer to join their esteemed team in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US . This is a critical role where you will spearhead the design, development, and validation of cutting-edge radio frequency (RF) and microwave circuits and systems for next-generation wireless devices and infrastructure. You will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of performance, efficiency, and miniaturization in RF technology. This position demands a deep theoretical understanding of electromagnetic principles, coupled with extensive hands-on experience in RF circuit design, simulation, and measurement.

Responsibilities include:
  • Leading the design and simulation of complex RF/microwave components and subsystems, including LNA, PA, mixers, filters, oscillators, and antenna systems.
  • Utilizing advanced electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, CST, ADS) to model and optimize RF designs.
  • Developing and executing comprehensive test plans for RF circuits and systems, using state-of-the-art RF test equipment such as vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Analyzing test results, troubleshooting design issues, and implementing design improvements to meet stringent performance specifications.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and system engineers, to ensure seamless integration of RF components into overall system architectures.
  • Staying abreast of the latest advancements in RF technology, including new materials, components, and design techniques, and evaluating their applicability.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership within the RF design group.
  • Contributing to the definition of system-level requirements and architecture for new RF products.
  • Documenting design specifications, test procedures, and performance results.
  • Participating in peer design reviews and providing constructive feedback.

The ideal candidate possesses a Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in RF/Microwave Engineering. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in RF circuit design and development is required, with a proven track record of successfully bringing complex RF products to market. Proficiency in RF simulation software and familiarity with RF test equipment are essential. A strong understanding of semiconductor device physics and packaging effects on RF performance is highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and the leadership qualities to drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment are critical for success in this role based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US .
