Job Description
Our client, a highly respected general contractor specializing in high-rise and commercial construction, is seeking an experienced Lead Construction Project Manager to manage projects remotely. This unique opportunity allows you to oversee significant construction projects from initiation to completion, working entirely from your home office located anywhere within the US. The Lead Construction Project Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all construction activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will manage project teams, subcontractors, and vendors, fostering strong collaborative relationships to ensure seamless execution. Key responsibilities include developing detailed project schedules, managing budgets, procuring materials and services, and overseeing site operations through delegated authority and regular virtual reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of construction methodologies, project management software, and contract negotiation. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are paramount, as is the ability to manage complex projects and resolve issues effectively in a virtual environment. You will conduct site visits as needed to ensure quality control and progress monitoring, balancing remote oversight with essential on-site presence. This role requires a proactive approach, strong decision-making capabilities, and the ability to maintain momentum and drive project success from a distance. - Lead and manage all phases of construction projects, from planning and design through to closeout.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
- Oversee and coordinate the work of subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Manage project financials, including tracking costs, approving invoices, and forecasting expenditures.
- Negotiate and administer construction contracts.
- Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings (virtually and in-person as required).
- Identify and mitigate project risks, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Implement and manage project documentation and reporting systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; Master's degree a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a proven track record of managing large-scale commercial and/or high-rise projects.
- Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Strong understanding of contract administration and negotiation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets and schedules effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience working effectively in a remote project management capacity.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
