Our client, a distinguished leader in Civil Engineering, is seeking a highly experienced and authoritative Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their fully remote, globally distributed team. This senior-level position requires exceptional technical expertise, project leadership, and a visionary approach to solving complex geotechnical challenges across a wide array of projects, including major infrastructure, high-rise buildings, and challenging site developments. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping technical direction, mentoring junior staff, and driving innovation in geotechnical design and analysis. - Lead the technical design and analysis for complex geotechnical projects, including deep foundations, earth retention systems, seismic design, and ground improvement.
- Provide expert consultation and technical oversight on challenging projects from conceptualization through construction.
- Develop innovative and cost-effective geotechnical solutions tailored to specific project requirements and site conditions.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and interpretation of extensive subsurface investigations.
- Prepare and review high-level geotechnical reports, specifications, and technical memorandums.
- Serve as a key technical point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop the skills of junior and mid-level geotechnical engineers.
- Contribute to business development efforts by providing technical expertise in proposals and client meetings.
- Stay at the forefront of geotechnical engineering advancements, research, and emerging technologies.
- Ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in all project deliverables.
- Champion best practices in geotechnical engineering and promote their adoption within the firm.
- Manage large, complex projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget, while maintaining technical excellence.
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory. A Geotechnical (GEO) specialty certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive, specialized experience in geotechnical engineering consulting.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced numerical modeling and analysis techniques (e.g., finite element analysis).
- Extensive experience with seismic hazard analysis, liquefaction assessment, and soil-structure interaction.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering large-scale, complex geotechnical projects.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong client relationship management and business development capabilities.
- Ability to think strategically and solve complex, multi-faceted problems.
- Proficiency in industry-standard geotechnical software.
- Experience working effectively and collaboratively in a fully remote environment is essential.
