Remote Lead Network Architect - 5G

Our client, a global leader in telecommunications, is seeking an innovative and experienced Remote Lead Network Architect specializing in 5G technologies to join their cutting-edge team. This is a fully remote position, allowing top talent to contribute from anywhere within the US. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing advanced 5G network architectures that support next-generation wireless services. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in 5G core network functions, radio access networks (RAN), network virtualization (NFV), software-defined networking (SDN), and cloud-native principles. You will lead the technical vision for our 5G deployments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and architecture of scalable, resilient, and high-performance 5G networks, including the 5G core (5GC), RAN, and transport layers.
• Define and document network architecture blueprints, technical specifications, and deployment strategies for 5G services.
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, platforms, and vendors for 5G network infrastructure.
• Drive the adoption of network virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) principles within the 5G architecture.
• Architect cloud-native solutions and microservices for 5G network functions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, product management, and security, to ensure successful network deployment and operation.
• Develop capacity planning models and network performance monitoring strategies.
• Identify and mitigate network security risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to network engineers and architects.
• Stay abreast of the latest 5G standards, technologies, and industry trends.
• Contribute to proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives and technology trials.
• Develop and maintain network architecture documentation and knowledge base.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in telecommunications network architecture and design, with at least 5 years focused on mobile network technologies, including significant experience with 5G.
• In-depth knowledge of 5G standards (3GPP Releases), architecture, and key components (e.g., AMF, SMF, UPF, gNB).
• Strong understanding of NFV/SDN concepts, virtualization technologies (e.g., OpenStack, VMware), and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native network functions.
• Expertise in RAN technologies (e.g., Open RAN, Massive MIMO) and transport network design.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions.
• Experience with network security principles and best practices.
• Ability to work independently and lead complex technical initiatives in a remote setting.
