Remote Lead Structural Engineer

Our client, a distinguished firm known for its innovative and sustainable building designs, is seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Lead Structural Engineer to join their entirely remote team. This role is pivotal in leading the structural design aspects of diverse architectural projects, ensuring safety, integrity, and efficiency from conceptualization through construction administration. You will be responsible for performing complex structural analyses, developing detailed design calculations, and producing comprehensive construction documents utilizing advanced engineering software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, Revit Structure). Collaborating closely with architectural teams, clients, and other engineering disciplines (MEP, civil) to integrate structural solutions seamlessly into the overall project design is fundamental. This involves thorough site assessments, material selection, and ensuring compliance with all relevant building codes, standards, and regulations. You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior structural engineers, fostering their professional development and ensuring adherence to best practices. Overseeing the review of shop drawings, responding to RFI's, and conducting site visits (as needed, though this is a remote-first role) to address construction challenges will be critical. Proactive problem-solving and innovative thinking to overcome design and construction hurdles are highly valued. A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a structural engineering focus is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design for various building types is essential. Extensive experience with structural analysis software and BIM platforms is required. Deep understanding of material properties, construction methods, and seismic/wind design principles is crucial. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are a must. Outstanding communication, collaboration, and presentation skills are necessary for effective interaction with remote teams and clients. The ability to lead projects independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality results in a fully remote environment is essential.
