Lead Field Service Technician (Remote)

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Field Service Technician to join their fully remote team. This position requires a self-motivated individual with extensive experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex industrial equipment. While the role is fully remote, you will be expected to travel to client sites as needed for on-site installations, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Your technical expertise and leadership will be crucial in ensuring customer satisfaction and operational uptime.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide advanced technical support and on-site service for a range of industrial machinery and systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and software issues remotely when possible, utilizing diagnostic tools and remote access technologies.
  • Travel to customer locations to perform installations, commissioning, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs.
  • Lead and mentor junior field service technicians, providing technical guidance and training.
  • Develop and maintain detailed service reports, documenting all work performed, parts used, and customer feedback.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and company procedures during on-site work.
  • Identify recurring issues and proactively recommend solutions or product improvements.
  • Manage service schedules and prioritize urgent customer requests.
  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of tools, parts, and testing equipment.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Stay current with product updates, technical bulletins, and best practices in field service.
  • Collaborate with engineering and support teams to troubleshoot challenging technical problems.
  • Contribute to the development of service manuals and troubleshooting guides.
  • Perform root cause analysis for equipment failures.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Field Service Technician, with a proven track record of success in diagnosing and repairing complex industrial equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other relevant testing equipment.
  • Experience with remote diagnostic tools and technologies is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients.
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently (up to 50%) to customer sites.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Technical certifications relevant to specific equipment are a plus.
