Senior Technical Project Manager (Remote-First)

Job Description

Our client is seeking an accomplished and driven Senior Technical Project Manager to lead critical technology initiatives within a fully remote-first environment. This role is paramount to the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex software development projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. You will be responsible for managing project lifecycles from initiation to closure, fostering collaboration among distributed engineering teams, and mitigating risks proactively.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned project leader with a robust background in software development, exceptional organizational skills, and a talent for communication in a virtual setting. You will utilize your expertise in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) to guide teams, facilitate sprint planning, manage backlogs, and conduct retrospectives. This role requires a leader who can inspire and empower remote teams to achieve peak performance, bridging communication gaps and ensuring alignment across the organization.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple complex technical projects simultaneously.
  • Developing detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and budget.
  • Managing project risks, issues, and changes effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitating Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives).
  • Coordinating with engineering, product management, QA, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
  • Tracking project progress and providing regular status updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Mentoring and guiding project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Implementing and refining project management best practices within the organization.
  • Ensuring clear and consistent communication across all distributed team members.
  • Managing vendor relationships and deliverables when applicable.
  • Driving continuous improvement in project management processes and tools.
  • Ensuring project documentation is comprehensive and up-to-date.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in technical project management, with a significant focus on software development projects.
  • Proven experience managing projects in a remote or distributed team environment.
  • Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience implementing them.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate remote teams.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Asana).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • PMP, CSM, or similar project management certifications are highly desirable.
  • Experience with (Specify relevant technologies, e.g., Cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines) is a plus.
