Remote Environmental Health & Safety Specialist - Compliance & Auditing
Job Description
Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join their team. This is a fully remote position, providing flexibility and the opportunity to impact safety standards across various facilities. The primary focus of this role is ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring EHS programs, conducting audits, and providing training to employees. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of EHS principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.

- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Conduct regular site audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs to employees at all levels.
- Prepare and maintain EHS documentation, including safety manuals, training records, and regulatory reports.
- Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management, emissions, and chemical storage.
- Stay current with changes in EHS legislation and best practices.
- Act as a point of contact for regulatory agencies.
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
- Manage EHS-related projects and initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an EHS role, with a focus on compliance and auditing.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant EHS regulations.
- Experience in conducting EHS audits and developing corrective action plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) are a plus.
