Remote Facilities Operations Manager

Our client, a progressive organization committed to maintaining optimal operational environments, is seeking a seasoned Facilities Operations Manager to lead their distributed facilities management team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to manage operations from your preferred location within the US. You will be responsible for overseeing the planning, budgeting, and execution of all facility-related activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained workplaces for our dispersed workforce. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in facilities management, including building maintenance, vendor management, space planning, and regulatory compliance. You will develop and implement strategic plans for preventative maintenance, capital projects, and operational improvements across various sites. Key responsibilities include managing a team of facility coordinators, negotiating and managing service contracts, overseeing budgets, and ensuring adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for coordinating effectively with various departments and external stakeholders. This is a critical role for an experienced manager looking to leverage their expertise in a remote, impactful capacity.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of facilities operations, maintenance, and repair across multiple locations.
  • Develop and manage annual operating budgets for facilities department.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with third-party vendors and service providers.
  • Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal building performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of remote facilities coordinators and support staff.
  • Oversee space planning, move coordination, and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Manage capital improvement projects, from planning and budgeting to execution and closeout.
  • Respond to and resolve facilities-related emergencies and issues promptly.
  • Develop and implement strategies for energy efficiency and sustainability.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in facilities management and operations.
  • Proven experience managing budgets and negotiating contracts with vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance, and repair.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, particularly in a remote setting.
  • Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in facilities management software (e.g., CMMS).
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and energy management practices is a plus.
