Lead Civil Engineer - Remote Infrastructure Design

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy, is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Lead Civil Engineer to join their fully remote team. This position is critical for conceptualizing, designing, and overseeing the implementation of complex infrastructure projects nationwide. You will leverage your extensive expertise in civil engineering principles and cutting-edge design software to deliver innovative solutions for transportation, water resources, and land development. As a remote Lead Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Leading the design and development of major civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, water systems, and site development.
  • Mentoring and managing a team of civil engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth in a virtual environment.
  • Ensuring all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Developing project scopes, budgets, and timelines in collaboration with project managers and clients.
  • Performing complex engineering calculations and analyses using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, HEC-RAS).
  • Conducting site investigations and feasibility studies.
  • Reviewing and approving engineering plans, specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborating effectively with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Staying current with the latest advancements in civil engineering technology and best practices.
  • Troubleshooting design challenges and providing innovative solutions.
  • Contributing to business development efforts by assisting in proposal preparation and client presentations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design and project management.
  • Extensive experience in at least two of the following areas: transportation engineering, water resources engineering, or land development.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, or similar design software.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, structural analysis, and hydraulic modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage client relationships remotely.
  • Proven experience in project budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Must be comfortable and effective working in a fully remote, collaborative setting.
