Job Description

Our client is looking for a highly skilled and creative Remote Sous Chef to join their culinary innovation team. This is a fully remote contractor position, ideal for a chef who excels in recipe development, menu ideation, and culinary content creation. You will collaborate with our culinary directors to conceptualize and refine new dishes, develop detailed recipes, and contribute to high-quality food content, potentially for digital platforms or product development. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in classical and contemporary cuisine, exceptional tasting and seasoning skills, and the ability to articulate culinary concepts clearly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and document new recipes, including precise measurements, cooking instructions, and plating suggestions.
  • Assist in conceptualizing and refining menu offerings for various culinary projects.
  • Conduct taste testing and provide detailed feedback on flavor profiles, texture, and presentation.
  • Collaborate with culinary teams and marketing departments to translate culinary ideas into tangible outputs.
  • Research food trends, ingredients, and techniques to inspire new creations.
  • Ensure all developed recipes meet quality, safety, and cost targets.
  • Potentially contribute to the creation of culinary content, such as videos, articles, or social media posts.
  • Maintain a high standard of culinary artistry and execution.
  • Manage personal time effectively to meet project deadlines in a remote work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders regarding culinary development progress.
Qualifications:
  • Professional culinary training and/or equivalent work experience as a Chef or Sous Chef.
  • Demonstrated experience in recipe development and menu creation.
  • Strong understanding of diverse culinary techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles across various cuisines.
  • Excellent palate and ability to identify and balance flavors.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills for remote collaboration.
  • Proficiency in documenting recipes with clarity and precision.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for food innovation.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Access to a well-equipped home kitchen for recipe testing.
  • A portfolio showcasing recipe development or culinary creations is highly recommended.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
