Senior Chemical Process Safety Engineer - Remote

Our client, a leading innovator in chemical manufacturing and development, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemical Process Safety Engineer to join their world-class team on a fully remote basis. This role is crucial for ensuring the highest standards of safety across all operational and developmental activities. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of chemical processes, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory compliance, with a proven ability to implement and manage comprehensive process safety management (PSM) programs. Working remotely, you will collaborate with engineering, operations, and EHS teams across various global sites, providing expert guidance and driving safety initiatives from your home office.

- Develop, implement, and maintain robust Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in accordance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and other relevant regulations.
- Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, What-If, FMEA, and LOPA studies for new and existing processes.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to reduce potential hazards.
- Perform incident investigations, root cause analyses (RCAs), and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Review and approve Management of Change (MOC) requests to ensure process safety is maintained.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to engineers, operators, and management.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national, and international process safety standards and regulations.
- Maintain process safety information (PSI) and ensure its accuracy and accessibility.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections of facilities and operations.
- Advise and support engineering and operations teams on process safety considerations during design, construction, and operational phases.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in process safety.
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety engineering, with a strong focus on chemical manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA PSM 29 CFR and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) rules.
- Proven experience facilitating PHAs and conducting RCAs.
- Strong understanding of inherent safety principles and risk mitigation techniques.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Proficiency with process safety software and tools.
- Professional certifications such as CCPSC (Certified Chemical Process Safety Professional) are highly desirable.
- Experience in a variety of chemical processes and unit operations.
