Nurse Educator
Job Description
Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is seeking a dedicated Nurse Educator to support the professional development of nursing staff and enhance the quality of patient care within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. As a Nurse Educator, you will use your clinical expertise and passion for teaching to design, implement, and evaluate educational programs for nurses and other clinical staff across a dynamic hospital setting. You will collaborate with nurse leaders, physicians, and interprofessional team members to assess learning needs, develop evidence-based curricula, and ensure that practice aligns with current standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
In this role, you will provide orientation and onboarding for new nurses, coordinate and deliver ongoing in-service education, and mentor staff in clinical skills, critical thinking, and professional practice. You will lead skills labs, simulation exercises, and competency validations; support nurses in preparing for certifications; and assist with performance improvement initiatives and clinical practice changes. The Nurse Educator will analyze quality and safety data, identify opportunities for improvement, and help translate best practices into everyday patient care.
MVHS fosters a supportive environment that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and employee welfare. As a key member of this culture, the Nurse Educator will model professional behavior, promote evidence-based practice, and encourage a spirit of lifelong learning. You will work closely with leadership to align educational activities with organizational goals, accreditation standards, and strategic initiatives, while serving as a resource for clinical policy development and updates.
This position is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse who enjoys coaching and developing others and who thrives in a collaborative environment. The Nurse Educator will primarily work on-site within the hospital environment, with some flexibility to support hybrid learning and occasional remote preparation of educational materials. MVHS offers opportunities for professional growth and advancement, including participation in committees, involvement in research and quality projects, and access to ongoing professional development resources. By joining Mohawk Valley Health System, you will help shape the next generation of nursing practice and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes and community health in Upstate New York.
