Remote Lead Cloud Security Engineer - AWS/Azure

Job Description

Our client is searching for a highly experienced Lead Cloud Security Engineer to bolster their IT security posture. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere in the US. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing robust security solutions across their cloud infrastructure (AWS and Azure). This role involves protecting sensitive data, mitigating threats, ensuring compliance, and leading security initiatives. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of cloud security best practices, threat landscapes, and hands-on experience with major cloud platforms.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive security architectures for AWS and Azure environments.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures for cloud services.
  • Implement and maintain security controls, including identity and access management (IAM), network security, data encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and risk analysis of cloud infrastructure.
  • Respond to security incidents, perform forensic analysis, and implement remediation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).
  • Automate security tasks and processes using scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security into the CI/CD pipeline (DevSecOps).
  • Monitor cloud environments for security threats and anomalies, utilizing SIEM and other monitoring tools.
  • Provide security guidance and training to IT staff and other stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and solutions.
  • Lead security-related projects and mentor junior security engineers.
  • Develop and maintain security documentation, including architecture diagrams and incident response plans.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years focused on cloud security.
  • Deep expertise in AWS and Azure security services and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF, SIEM, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, operating systems (Linux/Windows), and container security.
  • Experience with DevSecOps principles and practices.
  • Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, AWS Certified Security - Specialty, or Azure Security Engineer Associate.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives in a remote setting.
