Senior Aircraft Performance Engineer (Remote)

Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Aircraft Performance Engineer to join their cutting-edge aerospace team. This is a fully remote, position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the United States. You will be instrumental in the development, analysis, and validation of aircraft performance models, ensuring optimal efficiency, safety, and compliance with aviation regulations. Your expertise will directly contribute to the design and certification of next-generation aircraft. Key responsibilities include:
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and refine sophisticated aerodynamic and performance simulation models for various aircraft configurations.
  • Conduct extensive performance analysis, including climb, cruise, descent, and landing performance, under diverse flight conditions and environmental factors.
  • Validate simulation results against flight test data and real-world operational data, identifying discrepancies and implementing necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including aerodynamicists, structural engineers, flight control engineers, and systems engineers, to integrate performance requirements into the overall aircraft design.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal review and regulatory submissions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of performance engineering processes and tools.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in aerospace technology, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and performance analysis techniques.
  • Ensure all performance predictions and analyses adhere to FAA, EASA, and other relevant aviation authority regulations.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide critical performance insights to guide design decisions.
Qualifications:
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in aircraft performance engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in aircraft performance analysis, including aerodynamic principles, propulsion systems, and flight mechanics.
  • Proficiency with performance simulation software such as FlightGear, X-Plane, or similar tools.
  • Strong knowledge of CFD software and data analysis techniques.
  • Experience with data reduction and validation using flight test data.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate in a remote team environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
