Remote Lead Manufacturing Process Engineer - Automation

Our client, a globally recognized leader in advanced manufacturing, is actively seeking a highly skilled and visionary Lead Manufacturing Process Engineer to spearhead automation initiatives on a fully remote basis. This role is designed for an expert who can drive innovation in production processes, leveraging cutting-edge automation technologies to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability. The ideal candidate will have a profound understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process automation strategies, coupled with proven leadership experience in transforming manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of automated manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Develop and execute strategic roadmaps for automation adoption across production lines.
  • Analyze existing manufacturing workflows to identify opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, and cost reduction.
  • Specify, evaluate, and select automation equipment, robotics, and control systems.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, external vendors, and system integrators to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Oversee the integration of new automation technologies with existing manufacturing infrastructure and enterprise systems (MES, ERP).
  • Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, including P&IDs, functional specifications, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for automated systems.
  • Champion the application of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement in automated environments.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of process and automation engineers.
  • Troubleshoot complex automation challenges, diagnose root causes, and implement effective, sustainable solutions.
  • Ensure that all automation solutions comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in industrial automation, robotics, AI, and Industry 4.0.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong specialization in process automation and control systems.
  • Proven track record of leading and successfully implementing complex automation projects from concept to full production.
  • Expertise in PLC programming, HMI development, robotics (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB), and SCADA systems.
  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process optimization techniques.
  • Experience with data acquisition, analysis, and visualization for process monitoring and control.
  • Exceptional leadership, project management, and team-building skills.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a remote, global team setting.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments (e.g., automotive, electronics, consumer goods) is highly desirable.
