Senior Structural Engineer (Remote-First)

Our client, a highly respected engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their fully remote team. This position is pivotal in designing and overseeing the structural integrity of a wide range of construction projects, from commercial buildings to complex infrastructure. As a remote-first professional, you will collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams across the country, utilizing state-of-the-art design software and adhering to the highest industry standards.

Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis and design for various building types and infrastructure projects, ensuring safety, stability, and code compliance.
- Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000).
- Collaborate effectively with architects, clients, and other engineering disciplines to integrate structural designs seamlessly into overall project plans.
- Review shop drawings, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), and provide technical support during the construction phase.
- Conduct site visits and investigations as required, documenting findings and recommending solutions (though on-site visits will be minimized and strategically planned given the remote nature of the role).
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their professional development and ensuring the quality of their work.
- Stay updated with the latest building codes, standards, and advancements in structural engineering technology.
- Manage project timelines and budgets for structural engineering aspects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices within the engineering department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design and analysis.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software.
- Strong understanding of building codes (e.g., IBC, ASCE) and relevant standards.
- Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team setting.
- Experience with seismic design and analysis is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
