Who You’ll Work With:
This position will report to the Managing Director on the CLO team located in Minneapolis, MN.
What You’ll Do:
Support senior investment professionals in bottoms-up fundamental credit analysis including financial statement analysis, financial modeling, industry research and preparation of requisite approval materials for prospective investments;
Participate in idea generation and witness investment recommendations across sectors;
Gain sector and industry knowledge including key trends, drivers and issues that are likely to impact investment performance through research execution. Partner with senior investment professionals on research analysis;
Support performance analysis including creating, monitoring and standardizing monthly reporting; Responsible for updating projections on a monthly basis;
Execute the monitoring of a subset of tradable credit portfolios, which includes supporting the ongoing review and analysis of financial statements, monitoring of industry trends, and drafting internal presentations for senior investment professionals to present to senior leadership;
Communicate internally with team and externally with trading desks and bank loan arrangers as needed; and
Actively engage in the business by asking questions, demonstrating an eagerness to learn, and contribute your opinion and share knowledge
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a minor in accounting
1+ years of analytical and financial modeling skills and/or experience in an investment environment or related experience including internship(s)
Keen interest in financial markets
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated goal-orientation and drive with the ability to manage multiple priorities, while exercising sound judgment under demanding deadlines
A self-starter with the ability to follow through and complete tasks in a highly intellectual, collaborative environment
Curiosity and willingness to learn and take on new tasks and responsibilities
Proven ability/interest to work in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated organization and detail orientation skills with ability to audit own work
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability and desire to periodically work extended hours based on deal activities
Preferred
Exposure to financial modeling and analysis
Below investment grade credit investing exposure
Experience/exposure within an investment banking program and/or rotational program
Familiarity with Bloomberg and Capital IQ
Appreciation of and exposure to risk management terms and concepts

The candidate will have the opportunity to have exposure to all aspects of the investment process including idea generation, underwriting, and structuring. The Analyst will develop both quantitative and qualitative skills through supporting the investment process. In addition to conducting diligence on new investment ideas, the Analyst will participate in the post-closing monitoring of investments.
