Job Description
Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Signal Processing Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team in the Defense & Aerospace sector. You will design and implement advanced algorithms for radar, EW, and communications systems, analyze complex sensor data, and develop high-fidelity simulations in MATLAB and Python. Collaborating with experts across disciplines, you’ll prototype and transition concepts to real-time systems supporting critical national security missions. Design, implement, and optimize advanced signal processing algorithms for radar, EW, and communications systems
Analyze complex sensor and waveform data to extract, detect, and classify signals in high-noise environments
Develop simulations, models, and prototypes in MATLAB/Python to evaluate system performance and trade spaces
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams to integrate algorithms into real-time systems
Document methods, results, and architectures; present findings to sponsors and technical stakeholders
Support field tests, data collections, and experimental evaluations of new signal processing concepts
Digital signal processing (DSP) theory
Radar and communications signal processing
MATLAB and Simulink

C/C++ for embedded/real-time systems
Statistical signal processing and estimation
Detection, tracking, and classification algorithms
